Welcome to Baker Baker Health
This video will give you an introduction to who we are and our passion for providing the best for Children in Care.
Our Founder:
Dr Chris Hewer has over a decade of experience delivering Initial Health Assesments and has held senior regional and national leadership roles in Children in Care health including:
- Former Named Doctor for Children in Care
- CoramBAAF Health Advisory Committee member
- Medical Advisor for the Permanency Team
- Author of the published GP-led model in Adoption & Fostering
- Childrens Safeguarding lead at inner city GP practice
For 7 years, Dr Hewer led the services offering Initial Health Assessments (IHAs) and Prospective Carer Reports, achieving 95% compliance with the mandatory 20 working day IHA timeframe (excluding factors outside our control)*.

* Only 5% of non-compliance with statutory IHA deadlines was attributable to staff capacity or appointment availability. The remaining delays were due to factors outside the service’s control, such as late receipt of social care paperwork, the need for consecutive appointments, children not being brought, or cancellations (Gloucestershire ICB, 2023).
