Paediatricians

Dear Paediatricians,

At Baker Baker Health, we provide specialist GPs dedicated to delivering comprehensive medical assessments for Children in Care and their carers. Currently, we are operating in the following counties:

- NONE CURRENTLY (We will update with active regions when available).

Why use a GP-Led Model for Initial Health Assessments (IHAs)?

Traditionally, Initial Health Assessments (IHAs) have been conducted by Community Paediatrics. However, with over 10 years of experience delivering a highly succesful GP-led service in Gloucestershire, as the Named Doctor for Children in Care, we have identified several key advantages to the GP-led approach:

  • Increased Availability of Community Paediatricians: By having GPs managing these medical reports, we free you up to focus on other your other essential Paediatric tasks.
  • Holistic, Child-Focused Assessments: Our reports use our experience as GP's to assess the full scope of the child’s physical and mental health, along with their social wellbeing. We deliver health action plans that reflect a comprehensive approach, addressing medical issues, health promotion, mental health, social needs, and statutory requirements.
  • Supervision and peer reviewed by a senior medical peer: Ensuring high quality reports which are influenced by the latest evidence to ensure continuous improvement.
  • High Compliance with Timelines: We pride ourselves on timely and thorough assessments, aiming for at least 95% of IHAs to be completed within 20 working days of notification that a child has entered care.
  • Flexibility and Adaptability: We work closely with local health teams to align with and enhance existing pathways. Our existing plan framework can be customised to meet the specific needs of your area.
  • Experienced and Expert GPs: Our specialist GPs are skilled at providing high-quality, child-centred reports. We are eager to collaborate with Looked After Children (LAC) teams to foster shared learning, training, and development.
